Made for a skylit room in Goldsmiths’ Ben Pimlott Building, Tongue-Tied responds to the rooftop sculpture Scribble, visible directly overhead. A metal structure extends Scribble’s form into the room, with transparency prints showing the same London Underground carriage at different moments arranged in clusters along it. The prints recast this extension as a fictional track, reconnecting the rooftop landmark to the wider city through an imagined urban infrastructure. Echoing the gestural quality of scribbling, the work presents movement as a static trace and considers how continuity is speculated across discontinuities.
