Shiyo Zhou (China, 1995) works with moving image and site-specific installation. Her practice investigates how continuity, movement, and presence are produced, betrayed, and unmade by infrastructural and mediating structures. Through strategies of repetition, displacement, and redeployment, she reconfigures familiar environments into unstable observational situations that challenge the apparent immediacy of the present. Perception emerges in her work as a speculative event, organised through mediation, bodily orientation, and infrastructural repetition.
Zhou is currently an MFA candidate at Goldsmiths, University of London, and holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology.
